About this project

I'd like to introduce everyone to BobJr. He is a shy little buddy who's a little curious and a little clingy! He's spends most of his day looking around and exploring what's around him. He mostly does his own thing but loves to listen to people, a very curious little being.

BobJr. in action

BobJr. has the heart of a Circuit playground and thrives on power from a LiPo battery, his mobility is powered by an MG995 Servo. His senses his environment with the help of a microphone to listen for people around. If he can't hear you, he can also be tapped on his body to alert him!

Technical Specifications:

The Project initially was setup to use the microphone to check decimal level of the environment and if exceeded BobJr's head would turn towards the user to seem like he was listening to the wearer. When decimal level was exceeded by a large amount BobJr would frantically shake his head till the sound returned to a normal level.

The direction had to change after I blew out the microphone while testing! So in the next iteration BobJr. Look around the space to see what's happening, servo moves to random positions every 2 seconds. When the body is tapped the head is turned to 20 degrees to face the wearer, the tap is detected using the accelerometer on the CPX. After a while BobJr goes back to looking around the space.

Code was adapted based on Basic Circuit playground examples - microphone_demos, accelTap and servo-Sweep.

Design Framework:

BobJr. Is triggered by the wearer intentionally through voice and tap. But also when working is triggered unintentionally by the wearer and others.
